How do I know if I am eligible to have the NewColorIris procedure?
Ocular pathologies must first be ruled out. Specific parameters like eye pressure, anterior chamber depth, gonioscopy and corneal health need to be examined by a comprehensive ophthalmologist. Results are sent to Kahn Medical to determine eligibility.
- Will myopia, astigmatism and other refractive errors exclude me from having the procedure?
No, but NewColorIris is not refractive and pre-op and post-op vision may remain the same. Patients may continue to wear prescription glasses or contact lenses as before. Lasik may be feasible in selected patients.
- How long is the recovery period?
Patients are asked to stay for one week for surgery and post-op follow-up. Vision is expected to remain blurry between two to four days after the procedure. Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops are prescribed during this period. Results are natural and patients are able to return to their normal activities after this time.
- Is the procedure painful?
The procedure is not painful. It is ambulatory and performed under topical anesthesia.
